APET multilayer films
Multilayer films are composed of APET and PE polymers. Our films offer excellent sealability of the finished packaging as well as an excellent protective barrier if required. Available in reclosable, peelable and tight seal versions. Wide thickness range starting from 220µ, with variety of standard and customized colors.
APET multilayer films are a type of packaging material made from a specific plastic called amorphous polyethylene terephthalate (APET). These films are created by layering multiple sheets or coatings of APET material together, often with other materials, to create a composite film with a range of desirable properties. Here’s an overview of APET multilayer films and their common uses:
1. Material Composition: APET is a type of polyester plastic that is clear, strong, and has excellent barrier properties. APET multilayer films typically consist of multiple layers of APET, sometimes combined with other polymers or additives to achieve specific characteristics.
2. Key Characteristics:
- Clarity: APET is known for its transparency, which allows consumers to see the product inside the packaging.
- Strength: APET is relatively rigid and provides good mechanical strength, making it suitable for protecting products.
- Barrier Properties: APET has moderate barrier properties, meaning it can protect against moisture, gases, and odors to some extent, although it may require additional layers for enhanced barrier performance.
- Temperature Resistance: APET can withstand a wide temperature range, making it suitable for both refrigerated and frozen foods.
3. Common Uses:
APET multilayer films are used in a variety of packaging applications, including:
- Food Packaging: APET films are often used for packaging fresh produce, bakery items, deli products, and more. They help maintain the freshness and visual appeal of food items.
- Medical Packaging: APET films are used in medical device packaging and blister packs due to their strength, clarity, and the ability to maintain a sterile environment.
- Consumer Goods Packaging: These films are used for packaging consumer goods, electronics, and other products where visibility and protection are important.
- Thermoforming: APET films can be thermoformed into trays and containers for food packaging and other applications. They maintain their shape and provide protection to the contents.
- Clamshell Packaging: APET multilayer films are used to create clear, protective clamshell packaging for retail products, allowing consumers to see the product while keeping it secure.
- Display and Presentation: Their clarity and gloss make APET films suitable for display and presentation purposes, such as product labels, posters, and graphics.
In summary, APET multilayer films are versatile packaging materials known for their clarity, strength, and moderate barrier properties. They are used in a wide range of applications to protect and showcase products in various industries, including food, medical, and consumer goods packaging, as well as for display and presentation purposes.
